CPS Energy

LeeRoy Perez is Vice President of Transmission & Distribution Engineering &
Grid Transformation and is responsible for the continued improvement and
execution of CPS Energy’s strategic roadmap to transform the Electric Grid
infrastructure to integrate and leverage advanced resources and loads.
LeeRoy also leads the strategic development and management of the
transmission bulk electric (BES) and distribution electric system long‐range
plan to meet future needs while integrating advances in the grid infrastructure,
changes in topology and demographics, growth, and technology
enhancements.  For LeeRoy, developing employees, supervisors, managers,
and executive directors is the most rewarding part of his role.  LeeRoy provides
oversight to leaders of teams of engineers and staff in the design and engineering of transmission and
distribution infrastructure, and with field operations with the construction, testing and maintenance of
CPS Energy’s transmission and substation infrastructure. LeeRoy has been with CPS Energy since 2002
and previous roles include: Vice President of System Operations & Reliability, Sr. Director of Substation
& Transmission (S&T), Director of S&T Engineering, and manager of several departments within the
Energy Delivery Services department.  LeeRoy started his career at CPS Energy as an engineer designing
high‐voltage transmission lines before taking on leadership roles. Currently, LeeRoy represents CPS
Energy on the Board of the South Texas Business Partnership (SoTX), sits on the University of The
Incarnate Word (UIW) Engineering Industry Advisory Board, and served on the Leadership San Antonio
(LSA) class 48.  LeeRoy holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in
Management of Technology from the University of Texas at San Antonio.  LeeRoy is a registered
Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Texas, is certified as Project Management Professional (PMP),
and is a native of San Antonio.
