Frank Laborde
Treasurer Executive Committee
Laborde & Associates, CPA’s
In 1961, Frank Laborde was born into the deep-rooted culture and history of the Southside. Alongside his 7 siblings, Frank started working in his dad’s Southeast pharmacy at just 9 years old and all the way until his high school graduation from Central Catholic in 1979. Frank showed interest in sports and other activities but did not feel like he knew his calling until he took accounting at San Antonio College. Frank exceled in numbers and soon graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1984 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business Data Systems. He was also a founding member of the Beta Alpha Psi – Eta Beta Chapter Honors Organization at UTSA.
After college, Frank started working at a traditional accounting firm but found himself in a changing environment and was ready to capitalize on his talents. Accounting steadily was transitioning from hand written methods to computer-based information systems and Frank fearlessly decided to go into business on his own. Frank credits his business instincts to his father, whom initially started as a Pharmacist at Siebert’s Pharmacy and eventually owned the entire operation. Growing a family business just felt natural. So, in 1988 Frank opened his own bilingual CPA firm practicing in an office on Loop 410, until in 2001 Frank decided it was time to go back to his roots and move his firm half a mile from where he grew up.
Today Laborde & Associates stands as one of the early adopters into the revitalization of Southtown and the Lone Star District. In addition to his business success, Frank has found pride in his restoration of the 1910 “Botica de las Flores” building which he made his home and the 1870’s “Palace Meat Market” which he made home for his CPA Firm. His professional expertise, business consulting skills and steadfast commitment to clients have earned him many awards over the years, which included “Legend of the Southside” received from the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce in 2017. A 1984 graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, Laborde is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, Texas Society of CPA’s, and has served in committees and boards of South Texas Business Partnership, Mission Heritage Partners, Presa Community Center, UTSA Accounting Department, Texas A&M San Antonio Accounting Department, Providence Catholic School Finance Committee, St Philip of Jesus Church Finance Council, and many others. In 2013 and 2014 Frank served as Chairman of the Board for the South of San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. Frank also serves as President of the Laborde Family Memorial Foundation, which supports Catholic High School education and has donated over $150,000 in scholarships.
Frank is proud to have been in business for over 35 years, but he is especially proud of relocating his CPA Firm to San Antonio’s southside, a very underserved area of town for financial professional services.
Frank and his wife, Norma, have three children and one grandchild.
