Al Arreola Jr, was born in Del Rio, TX and grad of Del Rio High School. Al has had a diverse career in politics and public administration, beginning since his undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi (TAMUCC). Al was active on campus serving as President of his fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon, and the governing TAMUCC Interfraternity Council. Al then furthered his education at the University of Texas at San Antonio, engaging in graduate courses in Public Administration.
Al became involved in grassroots campaigning managing candidate campaigns throughout South Texas, most notably State Representative Joaquin Castro first re-election bid. Al served as Program Director for Houstonians for Responsible Growth, an organization highly touted for statewide land use deregulation efforts. Al then started Barnstorm Strategies, focused on political and communications consulting. Al’s clients included Jeff Judson & Associates, Bill White for Texas, the Real Estate Councils of Texas, among others. In 2010, Arreola was selected as the Executive Director for his hometown Del Rio Chamber of Commerce. In early 2014, he stepped down from the Del Rio Chamber to assist in his father’s bid for Mayor of Del Rio, TX, and in May 2014 he formally accepted the offer from the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce (now known as South Texas Business Partnership) to serve as the President and CEO.
Al was part of the San Antonio Business Journal’s 2016 40 Under 40 class describing him as, “an authoritative voice in the discussion on how to redevelop the Southside.” He currently serves the San Antonio Mobility Coalition (SAMCO) as Chair of the Board. Al was the inaugural president of the TAMUCC-San Antonio Alumni Association. In his personal time, he enjoys all things tech, woodworking, BBQ, DIY home projects, and taking walks with his chihuahuas Chewy and Chapo.
